Young Adult Preparatory School (Y. A. P. S.) is a fresh new idea that offers solutions
on a one-to-one, client-by-client basis. "Y.A. P.S. was birthed after seeing a need in her local congregation," says founder
and Executive Director, Pastor Barbara Wilson.
She developed a program that would nurture young women - who were having a few problems - in becoming
successful and productive citizens. A place where most of their immediate needs would be met and someone to take them "step
by step" to success.
Y.A.P.S. is here to help change the climate and future of the South Suburban
area. "We won't imitate any of the current programs, because Y.A.P.S. has a unique strategy."
Y.A.P.S. Inc. is a non-profit corporation which works to provide life-saving services, survival skills
training, educational enhancement, counseling, advocacy, information and referral services. Our target audience is at risk
young women ranging in age from 12 to 20. This audience will include all races and economic and ethnicities.
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence
plus character-this is the goal of true education."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
